Sin City

You know what they say. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. So I'll just say I had so much fun. Three words: eating, tanning, shopping.

The Denim Shirt

shirt- H&M, tank-F21, jeggings-Dorothy Perkins, sandals- Lulus

A while back I ventured into the men's section at H&M and I fell in love. No, I didn't find the man of my dreams. I found a denim shirt that was on sale for 8.99. Lately, I've been wearing it with everything. I usually keep a black hoodie with me in my car in case the weather turns on me. But this shirt is now my go-to.

Yesterday I went to Venice with my best friend to get a tan. That didn't happen because the sun hates me. So we just walked the boardwalk, took pictures and made plans for Vegas next week! I'm so excited.

The sun finally came out and it's been roasting me. I love it though. There's nothing like driving through the streets of L.A. with the windows down, warm wind blowing, and palm trees swaying. It finally feels like summer!

What do you wear to work in the heat? My workplace is pretty casual so I just threw this on. At least I didn't wear a pair of running shorts and a free beer tank top like one of my co-workers does. haha

Yeah. I need a tripod.

Now, I have some deals for you. I was so excited when I got these two packages in the mail.
I got this huge box full of makeup from ELF for super cheap. Lately, I've been watching beauty tutorials on youtube and became inspired to get back into the makeup thing. So I ordered brushes, brush cleansers, a dump bag, and loads and loads of makeup. Seriously, I don't know what to do with it all. The total actually came up to almost 180 but I went to and found a coupon code for 60% off! I got everything for just $75 including shipping. If you didn't know, most of the things from ELF are just a dollar each. Products from the studio line are $3 and I think a few things from the minerals collection are $5. Check them out at or go to Target.

I also got a few free samples from Mario Badescu. I've had really bad breakouts lately so I decided to try something new. I've been hearing great things about Mario Badescu skin care products for years so I decided to give them a try. I was set on buying a few products but after googling for a coupon code (I'm always down for a deal), I found out how to get free samples. The free samples aren't advertised anywhere on their website. You just have to fill out a questionnaire about your skin type. A page of their recommendations will come up but you don't have to buy anything. Within a few days you'll get an email with an offer for free samples. Just reply to accept the offer.I got my samples the very next week. I have yet to try them but they smell really good.

My last tip is for free 2-day shipping from for a whole year. If you are a student with a .edu email address you can get a free year membership to Amazon Prime. Just sign up with your school's email address. I order from amazon all the time so this will really save me. I have to order textbooks next month and I'll def be getting them from amazon.

BTW, I just started this blog so obviously I'm not getting paid to endorse. Just want to share some good deals :)

I'm so sorry I've been MIA. I was so busy this week. Isn't it crazy how school can stress you out even in the middle of summer? Anyways, the weather has been so depressing in L.A. lately. While the east coast has been in the hundreds we've had a bit of rain. But I took advantage of the weather and wore this outfit to work and then out to eat with my best friend on Friday. There's something about black that just makes you look put together. I admit I usually just wear jeans, a tshirt, and flip flops to work because I need to be comfortable. My boss asked if I was going anywhere special when I got to work. I said no and she replied, "It must be the black". Haha

I wore the same aldo flats from last week. They're a bit Chanel-esque, no?
Meet my puppy. His name is Pepper :)

This weekend I dined at some of the most overrated places.

First: Chipotle

I had a chicken burrito. It was okay. I got it without the cilantro lime rice because I HATE it. But I got a water cup without asking and filled it with lemonade. Score. Does anyone actually get that disgusting water from the soda machines? No. You just see it as a free small drink! :)
But I have to admit I go to Chipotle just for the chips. They are amazing. They have just the right amount of lime flavor.

My best friend, Lauren and I had a lovely 3 hour long conversation over dinner. We caught up and reminisced over the high school days. And most importantly, she convinced me that this is supposed to be a Mayan eating a burrito! I totally see it now.

Second: Pinkberry
Yeah, it's pretty good. But I don't see how people become addicted. As you can see I prefer mine without toppings. I'd just rather not have kiwis on my chocolate, thank you.

Third: Tito's Tacos
On Saturday I passed by Tito's on my way to see Despicable Me with my father. We decided to eat here after the movie. I grew up in the area and every time I passed by there would be a line around the corner. I thought it would be awesome. It wasn't. It was kind of bland and the beef was the texture of wet cardboard. If you are in L.A. on the west side and want some good mexican minus the long line go to Campos.

Note: I'm suffering from a bad breakout this week as well. I cropped out my head because my vanity told me to.

This last week pretty much sucked. But I'm going to focus on the highlights. I went to see Eclipse after work on Thursday. Here's a picture of what I wore that evening. Nothing special. If I could I would have have worn my pj's. It was just that kind of week.

On the bright side Eclipse was beautiful. It left me wanting more, in a good way. Too bad I'll have to wait a year for the next movie.

Oh and my camera came in the mail yesterday. It's awesome. No more camera phone photos, I promise! Thank you to everyone who has left such lovely and encouraging comments. I hope everyone enjoys their 4th of July weekend!

Father's Day Rescheduled

I didn't get to spend father's day with my dad so I invited him out to dinner yesterday. Well, he stood me up. I was all ready to go and he called to say he didn't feel like going out. I think he was pissed because Mexico lost to Argentina(I'm half Mexican btw). Since I was already dressed I took some pictures on my macbook(horrible quality, I know). It was hot as balls in L.A. yesterday so I decided to forgo the makeup and wear my natural curls.

Lazy Weekend

I haven't really done anything worth writing about lately. Well I did order my new camera because I found a really good deal. I ended up going with the Canon. I'm really excited. I'll probably be posting outfit photos every now and then after it arrives :) On a sad note most of Wednesday's paycheck will go to paying for this camera. Hopefully the rest will be saved for a trip to Vegas I'm planning with some friends. I truly hope it happens but my friends are poorer than I am so we'll see how that goes.

I have not been outside of my house since I got home from work yesterday. I turned down invites to two parties and decided I needed some "me" time. I read a few chapters in the Bohemian Manifesto, gave myself a manicure, cleaned my room, did laundry, gave myself a hot oil treatment, and watched Paper Heart, The Proposal, and The September Issue. Remember Me came in the mail today so I'll be watching that too later on and if I get bored I'll crack my LSAT book open.
(picture taken pre-manicure)

FYI, I'm a junior in college, a humanities major and my emphasis will probably be in art history. If not, it'll be my second major.Oh and I've decided to go to law school.

Since there's not much going on I'll leave you with a few paintings by one of my favorite contemporary painters, Mark Ryden:

The Magic Circus, 2001. His take on Joan Miro's Harlequin's Carnival. Brilliant, right?
The Pumpkin President, 1998. Random fact: prints of this painting were sold and proceeds went to the Obama Campaign.
Technically this isn't a painting. It's the cover of Michael Jackson's Dangerous album. It's quite fitting though since yesterday was the anniversary of his death. RIP
My introduction to Mark Ryden: 64 Goodbye Bear, 2006. I fell in love.
